Mountain View’s doubles team of Brynn DeSantis and Lexi Frost, and Prairie’s Elsa Bice will get some home-court advantage next weekend as they qualified for the 3A state girls tennis tournament that will be held at the Vancouver Tennis Center.
DeSantis and Frost, who earned their second state tournament berth on Friday by reaching the 3A bi-district semifinals in Kent, finished runner-up to a Bainbridge team who had given up just three games all tournament. Malia Lemieux and Elle Schuchman held off DeSantis and Frost in the bi-district final 7-6 (5), 6-4 on Saturday at Boeing Employee’s Tennis Center.
DeSantis and Frost, the 3A district champs, won their semifinal earlier Saturday, 6-0, 6-1 over May-Lin Zhang and Kianna Dougherty of Central Kitsap.
Bice, the 3A district singles champion, placed sixth at bi-district. She beat Ashley Kim of Stadium 6-2, 6-1 to punch her state ticket for the second year in a row, and then lost in the fifth-place match to Sienna Moore of Capital 6-2, 6-2.
