From pink to yellow, blue and green, pastel colors can help to add softness and subtle color to a space.

While these colors can be used in youthful spaces, when paired with rich, deep foundation colors such as black, brown and indigo blue, a modern sense of luxury can be achieved in mature areas of a home such as living rooms, dining areas, family rooms and master bedrooms.

Pink

Powder pink is a great color to complement any space. Pair pink with white or cream to blend soft colors or pair with black to create a strong contrast.

Yellow

Muted and soft, yellow allows one to bring in a “hint” of color without overpowering. Yellow works well with pure white as opposed to off-white or cream. Brown, blue or black also work well with pastel yellow.

Blue and Green

Pastel blue and green are versatile and can be used in a variety of clever ways to incorporate color into your space. Due to the saturation of color associated with blue and green they can easily be “dress up or dressed down.”

Ways to incorporate pastel colors:

  • Artwork
  • Bedding
  • Toss pillows
  • Upholstery
  • Accent walls
  • Lighting
