Garrett Maunu threw a gem in La Center’s first game in the 1A baseball regional. But the Wildcats needed a repeat effort against No. 2 Cedar Park Christian, but didn’t get it as La Center lost 4-2 to end its season.

It’s the second season in a row that La Center had its season ended in a regional loss to Cedar Park.

Maunu threw a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in a 6-0 win in the Wildcats’ win Saturday in Bellingham. Caden Taylor, Houston Coyle, Tyler Normine and Wyatt Eiesland each went 2 for 3 in the win.

In their second game, Cedar Park Christian took a 4-0 lead after a four-run fifth. The Wildcats rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth on RBIs from Justin Fuller and Smith Stimmel. But La Center could add no more.

4A regionals

Camas wins one, loses on — Andrew Miller outhit Moses Lake all by himself, and he can thank his stellar pitching for that as the Papermakers won 1-0 in their first regional game in Puyallup.

Miller threw a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts. He also went 2 for 3 from the plate.

But in their second game, Puyallup could not be stopped, sealing a 12-0 win with an eight-run sixth inning. Miller and Cade Lukens got Camas’ lone hits in the loss.

Battle Ground falls to North Creek — The Tigers could must only three hits in a 9-1 loss to North Creek at the Eastlake Regional.

Cooper McGowan, Jackson Hotchkiss and Jayden Sivits got the hits, and James Gill drove in the lone run.

2A regionals

Spudders can’t get out of big hole — Ridgefield gave up a pair of four-run innings to start, and the Spudders could not rally in an 9-4 loss to Selah at the Anacortes Regional.

Deven Savella went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBI, and Colton Warren was 2 for 4 with a RBI for Ridgefield.
