Boys soccer: Seton Catholic advances to 1A state quarterfinals with 3-0 win vs. Wahluke

Columbia of White Salmon also moves on in state playoffs

Sam Soto scored two goals, Eli Wall had a goal and Teagan Petracca two assists as the 11th-seeded Seton Catholic boys soccer team beat No. 6 Wahluke 3-0 on Friday in the 1A state round of 16 at Royal City.

The Cougars (13-4-2), winners of five of their last six matches, advance to the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Saturday against host and No. 3 seed Royal (17-3-1).

Wahluke (19-3) lost its last two matches of the season after winning its previous 13.

Soto scored first on a free kick, then Wall scored next with an assist from Petracca to put Seton ahead 2-0 at the half. Soto scored his second goal off Petracca’s assist.

Goalkeeper Zach Catherall was credited with six saves for a clean sheet. Seton’s last five wins have all been by shutout.

Seton coach Antonio Buckley named defender Zach Neida as the Cougars’ player of the game.

COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 4, CASCADE CHRISTIAN 1 – The Bruins moved on to the 1A quarterfinals with the victory. No details were reported.

No. 5 seed Columbia (15-2) will take an 11-match win streak into the quarterfinal matchup against No. 4 Overlake (14-2-3) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sammamish High School.
