The Mountain View boys teams placed three players in the top five individuals and squeaked a narrow team at the Class 3A bi-district golf tournament in Auburn on Thursday.

After shooting a first-round 67 on Wednesday, Spencer Moody came back with a 78 on Thursday to finish with a 36-hole total of 145, good for a tie for third.

Teammate Grady Millar followed in fourth at 146, and Alex Rigby was fifth at 148.

All together, the Thunder beat Gig Harbor by a single stroke for the team title, 603-604. Mountain View advances to the 3A state tournament next Tuesday and Wednesday at Hawks Prairie Golf Course in Lacey.

Tanner Moody of Heritage, Rex Burt of Kelso and Chase Questad of Prairie all earned individual berths to state.
