Prep roundup: Jacinda Lee of Camas edges teammate Jasmine Chen to win 4A bi-district girls golf tournament by one shot

Jacinda Lee of Camas shot a 2-under-par 69 on Tuesday to edge teammate Jasmine Chen by one shot at the 4A bi-district girls golf tournament at Meadow Park Golf Course in Tacoma.

Lee had a bogey on No. 15 to move back to even-par for the round. Chen earned par of 15 to remain at one-under-par.

But Lee’s birdie on No. 16 tied the teammates for first place at -1 as Chen earned a par.

Chen got a bogey on No. 17 to fall one back of Lee, who had a par on the hole.

Both Papermakers finished the round with birdies on No. 18, giving Lee a one-shot win. Lee had a two-round total of 140 with Chen at 141.

The Camas girls team ran away with the team title with a two-round total of 607. Kentwood was second at 656. Rachel Rerick placed sixth overall at 156.

MOORE TAKES NINTH AT 3A BI-DISTRICT — Maddy Moore of Prairie improved from her Monday round by two shots, shooting an 83 to place ninth overall at the 3A girls golf bi-district tournament at Auburn Golf Club.

Moore earned a spot to next week’s state tournament, along with teammate Lucia Hill. Mountain View’s Camryn Perry and Josie Kuffner also secured state berths.

KNAPP SECOND AT 2A DISTRICT — Jana Knapp shot an 82 on Tuesday to finish second at the 2A district tournament at Three Rivers Golf Course in Kelso.

Natalie Eklund of W.F. West won the tournament with a 36-hole total of 147. Knapp finished at 167. Khloe Rist of Woodland was third at 173. Also in the top 10 were Maia Carrillo of Columbia River (tied for fifth, 178), Sky Linden of Washougal (seventh, 180) and Jorie Langenbach of Mark Morris (eighth at 184).

MOATS 10TH AT 1A DISTRICT — Ava Moats of King’s Way Christian placed 10th at the 1A district tournament at Tumwater Valley Golf Course.

Softball

SETON CATHOLIC 14, EATONVILLE 4 — Kingsley Williams went 4 for 4 with a double and four RBI and Ellie Forster went 3 for 4 with two triples and four RBI as Seton Catholic won a first-round game in the 1A district tournament in Castle Rock.

The remainder of the district first-round games will be played Wednesday in Centralia. Seton will face Columbia-White Salmon or Elma in a semifinal at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Borst Park.

ROCHESTER 18, HOCKINSON 0 — Charlie Varney and Cassidy Barrows got the only two hits for Hockinson as the Hawks lost a district play-in game.

UNION 8, BATTLE GROUND 0 — McKinley Ermshar threw seven shutout innings and Alex Yelverton and Michala Dupree hit home runs as the Titans won the 4A Greater St. Helens League tiebreaker game.

As the No. 2 seed from the GSHL, Union will face Sumner at 10 a.m. Friday in a first-round game in the 4A bi-district tournament in Kent. Battle Ground will face Kentwood, also at 10 a.m. Friday.
