Letter: Protesters threaten democracy

By Tom Ryan, Vancouver

I’m confused. For over three years our president has been telling us that the greatest threat to democracy is right wing, MAGA, white supremacists. After closely watching the college demonstrations the past few weeks and hearing chants of “from the river to the sea,” “death to America,” “there is only one solution,” as well as watching the blatant antisemitism and hate directed at Jewish students, I haven’t been able to find even one red ball cap being worn among the protesters. Perhaps it’s time to reevaluate who the real threats to democracy are.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
