Letter: Perez needs to up her game

I want to echo Karissa Halstrom’s letter (“Vote to end aid to Israel,” Our Readers’ Views, May 3).

I believe it is a grave moral and political error for our congressional Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez to be voting in favor of more lethal aid to Israel. Look at what they have done in Gaza with the aid we have already sent them. If you tell me that we are funding Israel’s “self-defense,” I will say, “That is absurd!”

Obviously, I cannot vote for Joe Kent and the detached-from-reality wing of the GOP he represents. The existing Republican majority in the House is incapable of governing in any way, so why should we in Washington add to that insanity?

Notwithstanding, while I contributed to and voted for Perez in her first-term run, I have not yet done so this time and may not contribute at all. I will vote for her, given my alternative. But while she has done a passable job, speaking out about Israel is also important. She needs to up her game or stay home.
