Nominees for The Columbian 2023-24 Week 26 prep athlete of the week sponsored by Killer Burger

Nominees from Columbia River, Washougal, Skyview, Camas and La Center

Here are the nominees for The Columbian 2023-24 Week 26 high school athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger.

Voting will continue until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

To avoid vote manipulation, participants are being asked to log-in with their Columbian.com account or to sign-up for a free account before casting a vote.

Nominees are selected by The Columbian staff after a review of the previous week’s results. Suggestions for nominees can by made by anyone, but must be received by 6 p.m. Sunday for consideration.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday.

Here are the nominees:

NOAH COAKES, COLUMBIA RIVER BASEBALL: The junior allowed no runs and just two hits in 11 innings pitched with 11 strikeouts and no walks in two wins for the Rapids.

JAMIE MAAS, WASHOUGAL GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: The senior ran a top-6 2A time in winning the 300 hurdles at the Spudder Classic and won the 200 and 3,200 in a league meet.

MADDIE MILHORN, SKYVIEW SOFTBALL: The junior recorded 17 of her 21 outs by strikeouts in a shutout win over Union.

RACHEL RERICK, CAMAS GIRLS GOLF: The senior shot 1-over-par 37 at Camas Meadows in a league match win over Union.

CARTER SHERRY, LA CENTER BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: The junior won a fast race in 800 meters (1:58.33), a top-5 mark in 1A, at the Spudder Classic.
