BATTLE GROUND — At the 2024 SkillsUSA state competition at Centralia College last month, Prairie High School’s three-student team claimed first place, with Battle Ground High School bringing home silver.
Competitors in the SkillsUSA welding fabrication competition received a complete set of plans and materials for a welding and cutting table. Then they had just five hours to complete it.
“These three put a lot of work in,” Prairie welding/machine shop instructor Rob Smith said of his team — Grayson Allen, Kent Rohner and Brody Nieto.
Jason Lundervold, Aiden Goncalves and Avery Carlson represented Battle Ground High School under the leadership of Tod Garred.
