Letter: Vote to end aid to Israel

This Mother’s Day, we will mourn the loss of at least 15,000 children killed in Israel’s genocide on Gaza over the past six months, aided and abetted by the U.S. government. Thousands of mothers have seen the bombing and intentional starvation of their children by Israel, unnatural deaths committed in the most heinous and tragic manner.

As a mother, I am deeply disgusted by the actions of another mother, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Skamania, who just voted for more military assistance for Israel to continue the genocide. Marie does this against the democratic will of the American people and against the pleas of her constituents. Alienating her supporters ahead of the election is a disservice to everyone who put her there — people who do not want Joe Kent but cannot in good conscience support someone who uses her power to be complicit in atrocities. We put Marie there to be better than Kent, not just like him on most issues.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
