Letter: Problem with total immunity

By Roy Wilson, Vancouver
Published: May 1, 2024, 6:00am

If the Supreme Court upholds Donald Trump’s “total immunity” claim, it would mean that the current president (Joe Biden) could simply have his likely opponent (Trump) assassinated without consequence. That is ridiculous, of course, but that is how crazy the “total immunity” ideal actually is. If you believe that anyone — including a past or current president — should be completely above the law, you are living in the wrong country.
