Letter: Republicans hasten their demise

By Tom Lawrence, Vancouver
Published: March 29, 2024, 6:00am

This year we will be recognizing the end of the Republican Party on April 2. The end date is not based on any scientific or data-driven findings since the party does not value concrete evidence. April 2 seemed to be the best date due to the proverb “fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”

People still wanting to donate money can send checks/money orders to “The Trump Cult.” This makes it easier for Michael Whatley and Lara Trump to funnel all RNC money directly to Trump. Actually, sending cash would be better due to legal problems. There will be booths set up at various stores for people to return their American flags and lapel pins.

“We are Americans first, Americans last, Americans always” — partial quote by John McCain. There is no room for cults. The stores will also offer Kool-Aid and/or spines to help you choose your new direction.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
