Senior hit five home runs in three wins for the Tigers

Battle Ground softball player Hailey Ferguson is The Columbian 2023-24 Week 21 high school athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger.

Ferguson received 11,618 votes to win the weekly honor.

The senior went 6 for 13 with five home runs and 11 RBI in three wins for the Tigers.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday. Because of spring break, the next athlete-of-the-week vote will begin on April 8.

Here are the accomplishments of the other Week 21 nominees:

DAPHNE EVENSON, SKYVIEW GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: The junior won the 800 meters and set a meet record in the 1,600 meters (5:03.52) at the Tiger Invite.

BRADLEY HARRIS, UNION BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: The junior won the 3,200 meters and narrowly missed the meet record in the 1,600 (4:22.88) at the Tiger Invite.

NATE MERRITT, PRAIRIE BASEBALL: The senior went 7 for 10 with three doubles, a home run and eight RBI and pitched six solid innings in three wins for the Falcons.

ELI WALL, SETON CATHOLIC BOYS SOCCER: The senior scored four goals as the Cougars posted three league wins.
