Prairie baseball remained undefeated in 3A Greater St. Helens League play with a 10-9 win over Mountain View on Thursday.
It wasn’t easy.
Mountain View nearly overcame a 10-0 deficit, pulling within one run and loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh. But Jake Drogos got a strikeout to end the game as Prairie improved to 6-0 in league play.
Nate Merritt went 3 for 3 with four RBI, including a three-run home run that put Prairie ahead 8-0 in the fourth inning.
Trailing 10-0, Mountain View struck back with six runs in the bottom of the fourth. That included a two-run double by Jett Hamilton, who finished 2 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBI.
With Prairie leading 10-7, Drogos retired the first two batters he faced in the seventh. But a double, a hit batter and an intentional walk loaded the bases.
Mountain View trimmed the lead with a bases-loaded walk by Riley Dewater and an infield single by Lucas Wolfley. But Drogos got a swinging strike on a 1-2 count to end the game.
Prairie’s Nolan Nunn led off the game with a home run. He went 1 for 2 with three runs scored and three stolen bases.

- Lucas Peterson, Seton Catholic baseball, went 2 for 2 with a double and three RBI in a 16-0 win over Castle Rock. He also pitched the final two innings as he and Sawyer Clifton combined on a one-hitter.
- Logan Barker, Kelso baseball, went 2 for 2 with three runs and two RBI as the Hilanders improved to 9-0 with a 13-3 win over Heritage.
- Ryno Oldham Catabay, Evergreen baseball, hit a two-run single for the go-ahead runs in the fourth inning as the Plainsmen went on to beat Columbia of White Salmon 7-1.
- Elizabeth Peery, Ridgefield softball, went 2 for 3 with a grand slam, a double and six RBI in a 12-1 win over Heritage. She was also the winning pitcher, striking out five over five innings.
- Sophia Chambers, Camas softball, was 2 for 3 with four RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in the Papermakers’ 20-2 non-league win over Columbia of White Salmon.
- Emily Palomino, Mountain View softball, went 2 for 3 with a double, five RBI and two runs scored in a 15-2 win over King’s Way Christian.
- Ian Johnson and Gavin Cole, La Center boys soccer, had two goals and three assists, respectively, in a 5-0 win over Stevenson.
- Kylie Killett, Kelso softball, struck out 11 and allowed just two hits in a 10-1 win over R.A. Long.
- Diego Bejar, Evergreen boys soccer, had two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Prairie.
- Toren Baker, Max Moscovciuc and Patrick Said, each had a goal and two assists in a 7-1 win over Battle Ground.
- Alonzo Flores, Hockinson boys soccer, scored two goals, both in the first half of a 3-0 win over Washougal.
