Two cats were killed in a house fire in the Fourth Plain Village neighborhood Wednesday morning.

Vancouver Fire Department firefighters responded shortly before 11 a.m. to 3115 Drummond Ave. in central Vancouver. They arrived to find a two-story house on fire, according to an agency news release.

A total of 27 firefighters responded and had the blaze under control in less than five minutes, the department said.

No people were injured in the fire, but one person was displaced. The Red Cross is providing assistance.

The Vancouver Fire Marshals’ office is investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire department reminds residents to install smoke detectors and to check regularly that they’re functioning properly.
