Letter: Keep tolls, crime off new bridge

We are being nickeled and dimed to death in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, and Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is pushing hard for all of this. I realize that the Interstate 5 Bridge needs to be replaced. But the cost to replace the I-5 Bridge should not be shouldered on the backs of hardworking Washingtonians through toll charges. Toll charges will adversely impact everyone by putting all of us in a position of not being able to afford to commute.

Additionally, we are being forced to accept the implementation of light rail from Portland into Vancouver and beyond. Criminality is at an all-time high in Portland. No one wants more crime. Bringing light rail into Southwest Washington will only increase the crime rate.

Just say “no” to forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for the new I-5 Bridge by charging tolls. Many of us continue to state that we do not want light rail into Southwest Washington period.

Stand up, speak out, make your voices heard.
