The California-based grocer was recently listed on a commercial tenant improvement permit at 16701 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., according to city of Vancouver documents.
The permit was submitted in December by Portland-based Schmidt Architects for interior tenant improvements for a new grocery store. The permit expires in 2026.
A representative from Trader Joe’s could not confirm the new proposed location, or any other details, including a timeline for opening.
The permit did not indicate exactly how big the store will be, but county records show the building is about 28,000 square feet.
After months of speculation, Trader Joe’s confirmed in January it would open a second Clark County location at Skyview Station in Salmon Creek. Trader Joe’s website has not listed an opening date.
The Salmon Creek store was built from the ground up as part of Hurley Development’s Skyview Station. Given the possible location in east Vancouver is already under construction, it may not take as long to open.
Clark County’s only open Trader Joe’s is at 305 S.E. Chkalov Drive, also in east Vancouver.
The county’s third Trader Joe’s would be in the same Columbia Tech Center shopping mall as Ross Dress for Less, a Michaels craft store, Ulta and Petco and across 168th Avenue from Kohl’s department store.
