Letter: Trump poses a threat

Before casting a ballot, voters deserve to know where Trump stands on their most fundamental, personal rights. Fortunately, he’s made it abundantly clear that his reelection would spell the end of reproductive freedom in all 50 states.

Now, Trump has confirmed that he backs a nationwide ban. And while Trump has largely dodged the question on the campaign trail because he knows that abortion bans are incredibly unpopular, the public statements available lead to the same, inevitable conclusion.

After stacking the court with anti-abortion justices, Trump has repeatedly bragged, “I’m the one who got rid of Roe v. Wade.” On the campaign trail in 2016, he supported criminal penalties for women who have abortions, and as president he backed a ban that would have subjected doctors to imprisonment. When pressed on whether he’d sign a ban if reelected, he pledged last year, “We’ll get something done.”

We must take Trump at his word and recognize the profound threat he poses this November.
