PORTLAND — Nate Danielson had two goals and two assists, and James Stefan lit the lamp twice as the Portland Winterhawks enjoyed a goalfest Western Hockey League victory over the Tri-City Americans 11-1 on Friday at Memorial Coliseum.
It is the third time this season Portland (45-15-2-1, 93 points) has scored 11 goals in a game and fourth time getting at least 10 in a game.
The Winterhawks, winners of six in a row, opened a three-games-in-three-nights stretch by blasting 61 shots to Tri-City’s 19 in the rout, improving to 5-0 against the Americans this season.
Portland scored four goals in the first and second periods for an 8-0 advantage. Only a third-period power-play goal by the Americans spoiled the shutout.
