Letter: Democrats undermine democracy

By Tom Sowards, Vancouver
Published: March 15, 2024, 6:00am

The recent Supreme Court ruling is cause to bring up the Democrats’ favorite campaign slogan: “Democracy is on the ballot.” In reality, Democrats are the threat to the very ballot we vote with. The same ballot they tried to keep Trump off of.

Fact: We have a governmental system of checks and balances to keep the political party playing field level. The forefathers were astute to not empower slight political majorities. Besides the latest judicial atrocity (just nullified) in Colorado, the Democrats have been hard at work to stifle democracy in our republic.

More facts: Democrats want to pack the Supreme Court. Democrats most recently tried to eliminate the filibuster. Democrats want to take away state autonomy for the voting process, among other things. They also want to add two states to further tip the balance in their favor. Democrats want to eliminate the Electoral College to lessen small states’ voices. All are power grabs.

Democrats please dump your slogan. It’s insulting and hypocritical.
