Letter: GOP ignores border fix

By Don Howard, VANCOUVER
Published: March 14, 2024, 6:00am

House Speaker Mike Johnson demanded a border bill included in the foreign aid bill. Receiving the bipartisan bill from the Senate, Johnson killed it and then decided to exclude border funds. The Senate provided another bill. The House speaker killed that bill demanding once again a border bill with foreign aid. The Senate passed yet another bipartisan bill which the speaker, at Trump’s demand, killed again without a vote.

With the chaotic and do-nothing Trump House working hard maintaining the border crisis, more could be accomplished by turning the House over to a kindergartner.
