Letter: Ranked choice better for voters

The way I see Ann Donnelly’s arguments against ranked choice voting (“Ranked choice voting could burden voters,” The Columbian, March 2) is that between the lines they could as easily be read in favor of it. At least, that’s how I read them. Burdening voters? Ballot exhaustion? What insults to American capabilities. I’ve been voting over 60 years and experiencing easier, faster and more convenient voting research now than ever before. As for her argument on the sole major Democrat winning in the Alaska race, it was just a see-through manipulation of percentages to help people misunderstand ranked choice voting.
I’ve given a lot of thought to ranked choice voting in the past year, and the main reason I want it is for the increased power it would provide for my individual vote. Given anti-voting measures of the Republican Party, it comes as no surprise to me that they would push against it.
