LONGVIEW — The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office is making sure they aren’t just following the local department’s policies, but the field’s international guidelines.
The office reports it has been accredited by the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners.
Coroner Dana Tucker said the office was first accredited in 2018, and the designation is a first for the department while located in its new Washington Street office built in 2021 and in use the next year.
“I believe being accredited shows that we want to better our office and investigations in order to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of our community,” she said.
The process to be accredited included a review of 288 standards in administration to forensics, the coroner’s office reports, and lasts five years.
