IMAGE – On Feb. 23, students from Cascadia Tech Academy in Vancouver prepared a fantastic meal for members of the Clark County Newcomers Club. Clark County Newcomers Club’s 96 attendees raised $2,400 for the school at this event. Cascadia Tech was selected as charity for the fiscal year by Clark County Newcomers Club membership last July.
Dave Cole, Cascadia Tech Academy’s executive director, detailed how the school provides hands-on education to junior and senior high school students, preparing them for a variety of career paths upon graduation. In addition to culinary, baking and pastry arts, some of the other career programs offered include information technology, aviation, medical and dental sciences, cosmetology, automotive, hospitality and tourism, construction, criminal justice and fashion design. During the luncheon, CCNC guests heard personal experiences from Nicholas Ellison, catering coordinator and former culinary graduate, and two students who will graduate this year.
