Deven Savella’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh gave Ridgefield baseball a 4-3 season-opening win over Battle Ground on Friday at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex.
Trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning, the Spudders pulled even when Liam Ostrom was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded before a Wyatt Hemmelman’s RBI single.
Battle Ground got four shutdown innings from starter James Gill, who allowed just one hit, no walks and struck out eight.
Battle Ground’s Jackson Hotchkiss went 2 for 4 with a solo home run in the fourth inning. He also scored on a Gill single to put the Tigers ahead 3-2 in the sixth.
