Letter: Surge pricing is alienating

By Troy Haliwell, VANCOUVER

Regarding the idea of “surge pricing” at Wendy’s (“Burger chain Wendy’s looking to test surge pricing at restaurants as early as next year,” The Columbian, Feb. 27), we are stopping any eating there today and will never eat there unless this idea is buried and dead. It is just a way to justify higher prices whenever an AI decides to raise the price.

I suspect coming next will be one price for one car and another for the car behind based on if AI sees you as “loyal.” So to the franchise owner I am sorry — but you swallowing the corporate drive to AI is alienating us.
