Letter: Portland is graffiti wasteland

By Lynn Brown, Vancouver

The city of Portland has a major graffiti problem. Cleaning up the vandalism must be very expensive. A couple of prolific graffiti vandals have been arrested. One took a plea deal for no jail time. The other one has been arrested and released multiple times. It seems like Portland’s prosecutors are not taking this seriously. Doing some jail time and large fines would be appropriate. This needs to stop.

Portland looks like a slum to visitors. Portland has a great Convention Center and the Moda Center and now finally some large hotels to accommodate the visitors. Oftentimes potential visitors visit the cities they are considering for their event. What they see now is a graffiti wasteland. The light consequences for the graffiti vandals won’t stop them.
