Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol Unit deputies continue to investigate the death of a 24-year-old Vancouver woman who died as the result of a Portland boating accident June 22.

A boat towing Kaileigh Amor Seidel’s inflatable tube about 8 p.m. crashed into another boat on the Willamette River near the Hawthorne Bridge, injuring Seidel, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

Seidel was taken to OHSU Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office initially reported Seidel fell from a boat before being struck by another boat. That information was inaccurate.

After the investigation is completed, a Multnomah Country district attorney will determine whether to file criminal charges. Anyone who witnessed the event or may have captured video of the incident is asked to call the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol Unit at 503-988-8810.

A GoFundMe campaign for Seidel’s funeral costs had raised $42,960 as of Friday morning.
