Letter: Trump not fit to be president

In the 1770s, Thomas Paine, the author of “Common Sense,” wrote about America and its relationship with England: “There is something absurd in supposing a continent to be perpetually governed by an island.”

Recently, I have been looking for information on European leaders’ views of our candidates for president.

On June 23, on CNN’s GPS (Global Public Square) program, Fareed Zakaria interviewed David Lammy, the United Kingdom Labour Party’s spokesperson on foreign affairs. In 2018 Time magazine quoted Mr. Lammy protesting Donald Trump’s state visit to the U.K.

Mr. Lammy wrote: “Trump is not only a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathizing sociopath …”

Like Thomas Paine, I think it is absurd to have a con man, adjudicated rapist, and general failure as a human being, “demanding” he be reelected as United States president. Trump thinks he is above the law, like an elected king.

Now, Trump is on the verge of serving prison time because of his big mouth and dishonesty.

I wish the country could be assured that Trump will not be president in 2025.
