Letter: Fee plan would be discriminatory

“New fee to benefit roads” while true, would be at the sole expense of internal combustion motors; electric vehicles would continue to benefit from state infrastructure without paying their fair share (“To help fund roads, WA lawmakers eye fee on delivery of online purchases,” The Columbian, June 20). That would be forced discrimination.

Better would be additional vehicle registration fees and specific taxes on all associated vehicle accessories (like tires — including bicycles). Then, keep those fees specifically allocated to road repair instead of combining them in the general revenue fund.
