I wish we had a more informed and educated city council membership in the city of Camas. They are failing us in their muddling disagreements in deciding to release toxic water into our drinking water, rather than imposing water restrictions for the privileged few who use water supplies to enhance their landscape. Let the poorest of us drink microplastics rather than impose on the wealthier among us. Thanks, guys.
And while The Columbian, and many citizens, have urged restrictions on fireworks because of reasonable concerns about environment, safety, good citizenship, and respect for neighbors, the city council is adamant in preferring their own prejudices, stalling any kind of restrictions, rather than thoughtfully considering the good of the public.
Elected officials used to be known as “public servants,” those who worked for the good of the community regardless of their own opinions. That is not happening here. In my opinion, a majority of these elected officials need to be gone; either they are coasting on their own prejudices, or they are aspiring for higher office. They do not help our city. They need to be gone.
