Crews responded to a rapidly growing brush fire discovered Saturday afternoon in Skagit County, just north of the Snohomish County border.

The Dearinger Fire was first reported shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, according to Zoe Love, spokesperson for the Washington state Department of Natural Resources.

An initial report by Darrington Fire District 24, which was first called to the scene alongside the Oso Fire Department, estimated it to be 20 by 30 feet in size. After 6 p.m., DNR said it had grown to about 10 acres.

Multiple engines and air resources have been deployed to the scene, Love said.
