VAN MALL – The annual meeting of Assistance League Southwest Washington was held May 16 at the Heathman Lodge.

Attendees celebrated their local accomplishments during the 2023-2024 fiscal year, recognized members for outstanding achievements, and swore in new board officers for 2024-2025.

Southwest Washington members have volunteered 8,916 hours in the past year, returning a value of $303,055. The monies they raise, and donations received, support their local philanthropic programs including Operation School Bell, JUST because…, Assault Survivor Kits, Children’s Opportunities & Potential, Share A Bear, and Fostering Independence.

The 2024-2025 board members sworn in were President Michelle Craig, vice presidents Sally Yearout, Cathy Fravel, Linda O’Leary, Tanya Persons and Geri Rowe, Secretary Kara Uhrich and Treasurer Peg Steinmeyer.

The Ada Edwards Award was presented to Diane Berks for her countless hours supporting the chapter, and the Anne Banning Leadership Award went to Pat Bartel for always inspiring members.

Annette Kleinfelter, the CEO of A+K Ingenuity, was the guest speaker. Her organization contracts with the state to support local teenage girls in Vancouver who are transitioning from foster care to independent living. She let members know how the time and money Assistance League donates to this program promotes healthy futures for vulnerable youth.
