Letter: Proud of our Class of 2024

The Columbian’s recent story “No challenge too big for Clark County grads” makes me proud of our community. I graduated from high school 40 years ago and the editor of our local newspaper, The Antelope Valley Press, published a commentary titled, “The Classless Class of 1984.” Graduation shenanigans, like tossing a beach ball around during the ceremony, earned us that title. To be honest, that title stung and created serious doubt about the adults in my community. Obviously, it was a community me and most my peers chose to leave after graduation. It is great to see how far we have come in celebrating our young people. Congratulations to the graduates of 2024 – The class with so much class! I cannot wait to see all the amazing things you will do in our community and in your lifetime.
