It’s no secret that camping is a dominating activity in Colorado during the summer.
Here are five Colorado towns known for their great camping:
1. Aspen
This mountain town is known for its ski resorts, but it also has great camping. Silver Bar Campground is about 5 miles from Aspen on the banks of Maroon Creek. The Silver Queen Campground is also a short walk from the Maroon Creek. Both campsites offer a wraparound mountain view.
2. Buena Vista
Chalk Creek Campground offers campgrounds along Chalk Creek. The area includes fire pits and picnic tables, and there’s also an upper RV park. Arkansas River Rim Campground & RV Park sits along the Arkansas River, and offers access to nearby kayaking, hunting, and rafting.
3. Leadville
Sugar Loafin’ Campground is surrounded by great fishing, hiking, boating and more. Amenities include full hookup RV sites, tent sites, tables, and campfire rings. The Twin Peaks Campground has 35 sites and is in an aspen and lodgepole pine forest with great views of the Sawatch Range.
