Vancouver’s Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade float was dressed in all her floral finery for today’s event in Portland.
The float was made possible by a generous donation of time and money from the float’s lead floral designer, Megan Arumbul of Fieldwork Flowers in downtown Vancouver. The float’s chassis was purchased from the city of Battle Ground, which had a float in the parade for six decades. Now, it’s getting a second life as Vancouver’s float.
Arumbul previously estimated the final float would have as many as 5,000 flowers on it, in addition to greenery clippings from Vancouver.
The float’s title, “With Love, Vancouver,” expresses affection for our south-of-the-river friend, Portland.
Vancouver’s float and other floats can be viewed for free and up close this afternoon and Sunday along Southwest Naito Parkway in downtown Portland, adjacent to Rose Festival CityFair.
