The latest Monsterverse entry tops the DVD releases for the week of June 11.
“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”: It’s double the creatures, double the fun as Godzilla and Kong team up to fight even more monsters, with “Godzilla vs. Kong” director Adam Wingard again overseeing the action.
“When you multiply Godzilla by Kong, what do you get? When Wingard’s doing the math, it’s an earnest, wacky, hectic ride that often feels like being thrashed about in an IMAX seat,” writes Tribune News Service critic Katie Walsh in her review. “But about halfway through, one does get the nagging sensation that this has jumped the kaiju shark, as Wingard slams the gas and doesn’t let up.”
