Letter: Bring humanity to politics

By Amy Addison, Vancouver
Published: July 30, 2024, 6:00am

If stranded on the side of the road, it is likely that people on both sides of the political aisle would be there to lend a hand. So why can’t we bring this humanity to our politics? Why are we tolerating anything less?

Our future is us. And we can be better.

Right now, democracy is stranded on the side of the road because of our divisive politics. The path forward should be about helping each other. I will vote wherever I see the most humanity. And I hope this changing political climate breeds better leaders and leaves behind dated politics and hate-filled egomaniacs.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
