Vancouver apartment fire early Sunday displaces five families

Red Cross assisting families; no injuries reported

A fire early Sunday at the Greenwood Manor Apartments in Vancouver displaced five families, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

Firefighters were sent to the fire at 3701 E. 18th St. about 2:30 a.m. Smoke was coming from a second-floor window in the rear of the building when they arrived, according to an agency press release.

Firefighters went inside as the fire spread to the attic. They had the blaze under control in 20 minutes, according to the statement.

No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced families.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
