A haircut is a fairly individual experience. But in some places, especially communities of color, barbershops and beauty salons are social hubs where open, judgment-free conversations can take place.

A new Washington-based program hopes to provide barbers and beauticians, including those in Clark County, with formal training in peer counseling.
