After Donald Trump was wounded by a shooter at a rally in Pennsylvania, MAGA hats blamed Democrats. Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., even said that President Joe Biden was responsible, “Joe Biden sent the orders.”
But it’s not Biden and Democrats who incite violence.
Trump suggested in 2016 that “Second Amendment people” could solve the problem of Hillary Clinton picking judges. Donald Trump Jr. tweeted in 2022 mocking Nancy Pelosi’s husband after someone attacked him with a hammer. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., made a campaign video in 2022 saying she would blow away the Democrats’ agenda as she took aim with a rifle. House Republicans wore AR-15 lapel pins on the floor of Congress in 2022. In 2024, the Kansas Republican Party held a fundraiser where attendees could donate to kick and punch an effigy of President Joe Biden. Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson of North Carolina said just two weeks ago: “Some folks need killing! It’s time for somebody to say it.”
If you find the threat of more violence from Republicans to be not what you wish from your next president, be careful who you vote for.
