Letter: Country is a big mess

The theme song for the United States has now become “Big Mess” by Devo. Lyrics from over 40 years ago, “I’m a man on a mission, a boy with a gun,” etc. Government is people, made for the business of people and maybe a timeout, a plea for reason with hands across the aisle. Our local leaders should stand up and say what should be said, we’ve paid for dysfunctional process.

“Winning is all that matters” in politics made a big mess. Expecting the federal government to fix all of our problems is never reasonable or logical; grassroots, where we live here in Clark County, where we know our neighbors. Or at least the neighbors who want to win at all costs.

The “working” part of working together means leaving anger and hatred outside the conversation every community needs to have. Please be calm, pray and say hi to your neighbors, growth for a child who throws a fit comes with time, the child eventually gets older and doesn’t act up when they’re 10. This situation won’t be fixed overnight. But adults are able to be calm because there’s no excuse for that behavior ever again, unless we keep allowing it.
