Letter: Let’s get ranked-choice voting

Have you had a chance to look through your Voters’ Pamphlet yet? There are 28 people who want to be governor. Twenty-eight!

This is an excellent example of why we should have ranked-choice voting. What if you really, really like fishing and want to vote for the guy who believes that fishing is a community service? You could rank him No. 1 on your ballot. But in your heart of hearts you know he’ll never win so, for your No. 2, you’d pick somebody who has half a chance of getting enough votes to make it to the November ballot. This system enables you to both vote your conscience and not waste your vote.

Let’s get ranked-choice voting in Washington.
