Letter: Support Jay, Zimmerman for county

Thursday letters

Our county council is at a turning point. Longtime council members Karen Dill Bowerman (District 3) and Gary Medvigy (District 4) are retiring, to be replaced in November. The Aug. 6 primary election is crucial.

After carefully evaluating all the candidates, we endorse John Jay in District 3 and Joe Zimmerman in District 4. The two complement each other in experience. Each will bring a combination of youth and maturity, independence of thought, studious approach and strong principle to the council’s deliberations.

At times of contentious debate, these two candidates will be unfailingly collegial, respecting input from the public as well as from staff and fellow council members.

Jay and Zimmerman deserve their districts’ votes.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
