We live off Southeast Ellsworth Road and 18th Street. Currently they are constructing 46 affordable houses below us. Yes, we are about affordable houses in the right places.
The proposed development is on Southeast 19th Street. This street is a main thoroughfare for bikers, as well as school buses. It is also along Ellsworth Springs and running water. It is home to over 50 species of birds and a coyote or two. It is adjacent to state Highway 14 and Interstate 205. Street noise is exceedingly loud.
We strongly believe that parking will be a nightmare, bottlenecks will never end and there will be fatalities. There will be fatalities because cars speed daily (and nightly) down Ellsworth as it is an existing racing road without speed bumps (on one night two racing cars slammed into our community fence).
They state there is no running water by said property. They say they will allow for more trees on the properties (that is because you have to plant a tree to tear down an existing beautiful large tree — arborists call those plantings in small places tree coffins).
Is this the landscape we see for The Couve of the future?
