Ridgefield Raptors run streak to nine, beat Springfield 6-4

Stransky and Wallace each have four hits for Ridgefield

The Ridgefield Raptors extended their win streak to nine games with a 6-4 road win over the Springfield Drifters on Sunday.

Colby Wallace and Justin Stransky each had four hits as Ridgefield improved to 9-0 in the second half of the West Coast League season.

Sunday’s win secured a three game sweep over Springfield in which the Raptors outscored the Drifters 24-11.

Stransky (Fresno State) drove in three runs, including an RBI double that tied the game 3-3 in the fifth inning. He then scored on a single by Jack Salmon.

Wallace (Cal State Fullerton) extended his hitting streak to six games. After starting the summer 1 for 10 since joining the Raptors on July 4, Wallace’s batting average now sits at .382.

Eight of nine hitters in the batting order had a base hit as Ridgefield collected 14 hits.

Springfield took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, scoring two runs on an error by third basemanAndrew Grenert.

Starter Jake Swenson and three releivers held Springfield to just five hits. Carson Revay, Hiroyuki Yamada and Joseph Jasso eached pitched two innings in relief.

Jasso earned his first save of the season, striking out three without allowing a hit or a walk. The righty from Colleg of the Canyons hasn’t allowed a run in seven innings.

The Raptors (19-16) return to West Coast League play Friday when they open a three game series against Victoria at home.
