In viewing the Clark County Voters’ Pamphlet, I see that none of the Clark County Council candidates have addressed the biggest problem: We have a critical shortage of low-income housing, yet, at the same time, gridlock traffic conditions now exist every day in Districts 3 and 4. On June 29, approximately one square mile of road was in gridlock in east Vancouver. And it’s not because of road improvements.
These problems have a common cause: The county council has for years let developers, builders, and real estate interests profit at the expense of the people of the county. Don’t be fooled by any grifters saying “low taxes” or that they want to reduce “bloated government, tax-and-spend and waste.” They’re the ones who created this mess.
One candidate wants “good planning.” Good planning means it’s way past time the developers, builders, and real estate interests both create low- and moderate-income housing and a public transportation system, as well as traffic infrastructure that is modern. They must no longer profit at our expense.
I will be making a records request on anything traffic related because from the data I’ve already taken, it’s a scandal.
