MINNEHAHA — The Fort Vancouver Rose Society held its 69th annual rose show on June 29 in the spacious school gymnasium at First Evangelical Church of Vancouver on St. Johns Road. Seventy-eight exhibitors, from the novice to the advanced, showed their rose-growing, photography and exhibiting skills in American Rose Society juried show sections. In the horticulture section, 40 exhibitors submitted 464 rose entries, amounting to over 1,500 blooms. In artistic design, 24 exhibitors submitted 39 rose arrangement entries. The photography section was new this year; 14 exhibitors submitted 102 photo entries.
Queen of Show was awarded Karen and Merril Allen with rose Stiletto. King of Show was awarded to Carl and Carolyn Finch with their rose Grande Amore. Princess of Show was awarded James and Nancy Cavanaugh with rose Sunny Sundays.
