Letter: U.S. faces existential crisis

The United States is in the throes of an existential crisis. It’s clear that we are no longer a democracy with elections being decided by big corporations and even bigger money. The question I keep asking is “are Trump’s supporters better off after his presidency?” The answer is a resounding NO! The scary truth is Trump’s supporters care more about hurting other people than they do about bettering their own lives.

We are fighting a deep-seated ugly selfishness which will ultimately lead to an America no one will recognize. Sadly, this is not an endorsement for Joe Biden. The work that must be done towards an equitable and just existence for all humans will not take place at the ballot box. The eroding of human rights happens when the good guys stay quiet. What are you willing to do?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
